We have been working on an inexpensive, easy to use solution
   to capture health data
      in a home health care scenario
          that enables the user to quickly convert the data captured
              during the patient encounter
                   into a data file that can be viewed as well as imported into a Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system

Our first "laptop-less" data capture from the Anoto pen to the system was sent at 4:28pm PST Friday, October 9th, 2009

1. We printed a Medical form to paper with an Anoto pattern in the background using a normal printer

2. We wrote on that form with an Anoto pen

3. We sent the data from the Anoto pen to a - Bluetooth - Quad Band - GPRS - Wireless Modem

-- this device is the first of its kind - custom made at ENR in Burbank, CA
-- truly a stand alone device
-- that is, the device does not need a laptop to work
-- so, all one needs is an Anoto pen, the wireless modem and a paper form to collect and transmit data - that's it !

4. The data is then sent from the ENR wireless modem to the Linkwriter system

5. The system sends an email with the XML data file

6. This XML data file can be imported into a PDF form (or an EMR system) or a system like Google Health

- if you were interested in viewing this PDF form file, you can download it from here;

The XML data file can be set to any schema such as ASTM CCR XML compliant file for import into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

We are using the PDF form as a way to display the "ready for EMR" file

Why I am so very excited about this...

This 'system' that made an EMR compatible file consisted of;

a $250.00 Anoto pen

a $200.00 wireless modem

a 10.00 a month data plan (an M2M data plan available from either T-Mobile, AT&T or Kore)

with a 3 cents a form charge (using the LinkwriterExpedata system / services).

This is an inexpensive health data capture system that even the most anti-tech physician might actually embrace - and requires very little training to use successfully.
